Dr. Dunnahoo attended Granbury High School where he graduated as Valedictorian in 1994. He then attended Texas A&M University graduating Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science in 1998. He was accepted to Medical School at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and then completed his Emergency Medicine Residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center serving as Chief Resident in 2006. Dr. Dunnahoo is Board Certified in both Emergency Medicine and EMS Medicine.
Dr. Dunnahoo is actively involved in EMS and serves as the Medical Director for both Champion EMS and Kilgore Fire Department. Additionally, he serves as the Director of EMS Relations for LEMA. Dr. Dunnahoo is actively involved in EMS education and training. He is passionate about improving the pre-hospital care citizens receive in the communities he serves.
Dr. Dunnahoo has served the Highway 80 Rescue Mission Clinic as a Volunteer Physician. He has also served as a Sunday School teacher from the First United Method Church of Longview.
Dr. Dunnahoo currently has academic appointments as Clinical Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler and Clinical Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at LSU Shreveport. He is actively involved in the education of Emergency Medicine Residents, Internal Medicine Residents and Medical Students.
Dr. Dunnahoo was a co-founder of CommuniCare Technology, now Pulsara, where he served as Vice President of Operations from 2012-2013. Pulsara is a medical application software company and creator of Stop STEMI and Stop Stroke. These apps have revolutionized communication between both the pre-hospital and hospital setting resulting in real life improvements in door-to-balloon and door-to-needle times. Dr. Dunnahoo now serves as an Advisory Board Member to Pulsara.
Dr. Dunnahoo also currently serves on the Board of Trustees with Christian Heritage School of Longview.
In 2015, Dr. Dunnahoo completed his Master of Science in Healthcare Management from The Alliance for Medical Management Education Program (AMME). The AMME program is jointly sponsored by the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and the University of Texas at Dallas School of Management.
Dr. Dunnahoo has interests in physician leadership and mentoring. He currently serves as the Director of Mentoring for LEMA and actively mentors younger members of LEMA in hopes of helping others reach their full potential.
Dr. Dunnahoo is married with four children. He has a Black Belt in Yoshuki Karate. His interests include golf, basketball and physical fitness.
